Preventive Cardiology

Prevention is the part of cardiology that happens in ordinary consulting rooms, years before any catheter is involved. These references cover risk estimation that survives contact with real patients, lipid and blood pressure targets, diabetes and metabolic risk, smoking and diet counselling that people actually follow, and secondary prevention after infarction or revascularisation. They are written for physicians running prevention within a general clinic, with limited time per patient and no separate risk-factor service. Practical starting points are the Preventive Cardiology Handbook and Before the Blockage, alongside Cardiovascular titles.
