The route into cardiology is navigated largely on private information — which research attachment counts, which publication is worth a year, when to sit which examination, which observership opens a door and which merely costs money. Doctors with cardiologists in their family or their institution acquire this by proximity. Everyone else improvises, and the cost of improvising badly is measured in years.
For doctors outside the major training centres, and for those planning to move between health systems, the gap is wider still. This mentorship exists to close it.
What it is
The mentor is Dr A M Thirugnanam, MD, MSICP, FSCAI, Ph.D., Senior Interventional Cardiologist. The arrangement is deliberately long — it begins in the early years of medical school and continues until a training post is held.
Each month brings a private hour, set to the mentee’s own calendar and clock rather than the mentor’s. Masterclasses run live for the whole group and stay available afterwards as recordings. The full e-library opens on admission, so no reading is ever gated behind another purchase. Beyond that, the substance of the mentoring is strategic: choosing research worth attaching to, deciding what to publish and when, timing examinations, selecting observerships that actually carry weight, and shaping the eventual application.
Delivered remotely, worldwide
Everything is remote, so location is not a constraint — mentees have joined from across South Asia, the Gulf, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe. Calls are scheduled to the mentee’s time zone rather than the mentor’s, and masterclass recordings mean a clinical rota never costs a session.
By application
There is no checkout. The relationship runs for years, cohort size is limited by how many mentees one clinician can genuinely know, and each application is read individually with a conversation before any place is offered.
Who applies
Undergraduates certain enough about the specialty to want the coming years planned. House officers and early-grade residents working out how to reach a postgraduate cardiology seat at home or a fellowship overseas. Established clinicians crossing in from another discipline, where the sequencing questions are tighter because there is less time. Applications arrive from across South Asia, the Gulf, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.
Fee
₹2,50,000 one time for the full multi-year term — approximately US$2,500, billed in Indian rupees. There is no recurring charge.
