Echocardiography

Echocardiography written for the clinician holding the probe, not for a reporting department. These references cover obtaining usable windows on difficult patients, the measurements that change management, quantifying valve lesions and ventricular function, and reporting findings in language a referring colleague can act on. They matter most where scanning is done at the bedside by the treating doctor, in ICU or in outpatients, without a sonographer or a second reader available. Practical bench copies include Practical Echocardiography Reference and the Echocardiography Atlas for Clinicians. Supervised scanning practice is listed under CME Courses.
